Busch needs to shape up or ship out

On the track, he's incorrigible. In fact, many other Nascar drivers have forthrightly displayed disgust over Kyle Busch's behavior and driving style. Kyle Busch is the younger sibling of 2004 Cup Champion Kurt Busch. A whole book could be written on how aggressive this so-called ‘bad boy' driver can be on the track. However, even with his aggressive behavior and maniacal driving style, many would agree that Kyle Busch has style and talent. The only thing missing was, perhaps, shall we say….character?
But we can see a better Busch in the near future, we have been informed, because it seems that after a meeting with Mike Helton, the President of NASCAR itself, Busch's got some things straightened out. Although Mike Helton rarely meets with drivers or NASCAR personnel outside of the races itself, this time, he seems determined to straighten out the bad boy with bad attitude. So, what kind of butt-kicking did Mike Helton do to help Kyle Busch turn over a new leaf? Mike Helton wouldn't say anything as these meetings are usually private – something that the driver and Helton knew and agreed on.

The reason for the ‘meeting' was because Busch threw his head and neck restraint at Casey Mears' car after Casey Mears sent Busch's car spinning and crashing. Busch was cautioned and fined for the action. As a result, Busch was specifically called in for the meeting together with car owner, Rick Hendrick on top of being fined $50,000, having his points reduced by 25 and being put under probation for the rest of the season.
Busch came out of the meeting room clearer and better because the meeting, according to him, helped him see how bad things could have been if he doesn't stop behaving the way he was behaving. Car owner Hendrick helped reinforced the idea that Busch was not a bad person but he just doesn't have all THAT MANY friends on the track. And it matters.
And now that Busch is on probation AND reform, let's hope that he will stop all those public tantrums and pursue a dream and enjoy a future he, as a skilled racecar driver, actually deserves.
